A remarkable necklace. Fat, juicy glowing emeralds…..hung from high carat, spattered with pearls. Coolest Egyptian Revival jewel I’ve seen in an age. Design wise it’s also combined with that gemmy Arts and Crafts thing that was going on at the time it was made. What a mash up…. A large emerald is carved in the shape of a detailed scarab. Complete with fabulous faux hieroglyphs to the back (a scorpion for sure, and then a four legged beasty on a seesaw?! And a parasol?!). And I can confirm, it’s lovely to wear!
