A 19th century enamelled portrait of a Black woman. How rare. She’s grinning her face off, which I bloody love. She wears a diamond and gold necklace, and a diamond diadem. This is the front of a locket. The back probably got mullered, but the front was so special they had it made into a pendant. Probably French. High carat. Immaculate (bar one surface scratch) and original enamelling, with no touch ups.
