This rare 18ct Georgian fob was made between 1820 and 1840. Outstanding piece. Utter quality. Of hollow construction, as was typical for a piece like this of the period. Black enamel decorates both sides in an explosion of foliage and tendrils. The black against the rich gold is incredibly striking. A trompe l’oeil chain runs around the bottom edge, and also the large bail (to seem like the bail is actually made of chain….). The chain is symbolic of an unbreakable bond. Set with four amethysts, two either side. In mint condition, bar one small ding on one of the gold orbs to the side (as in pics, and not surprising due to age). So beautiful
