A Georgian hair brooch, comprised of halos of flat garnets and old cut diamonds. Really interesting British history here - this piece commemorates the life of the daughter of one of our top Politicians - a Speaker of the House of Commons and Chancellor of the Exchequer. He was Right Honourable John Smith, and she was Henrietta Theodosia Assheton. What a name… On the piece, her surname is spelt with a ye olde fancy S followed by a normal S, which I thought was odd and interesting (it took me a while to work it out - at first I thought it was an F). Her father being who he was explains why this piece is of such quality. In immaculate condition.
